There’s a lot of buzz around the internet about what music to play to create the perfect ambiance and have the best night of your life. Most of the playlists you find include great hits (such as Marvin Gaye’s immortal “Sexual Healing”), but let’s be honest, not everybody has the same musical taste, and a list might be packed with record-breaking artists, but if you don’t like the music, you won’t be able to give into the moment and to your partner. So, rather than making this article yet another list of songs to have sex to, it is going to be a guide on how to find the best music for the kind of lover you are.
As you listen to music during the day, try to imagine which would be the perfect context for it
Let’s be honest, we all think about sex during the day. Sometimes the thought comes and goes rapidly, sometimes your imagination goes wild, and you have trouble focusing at work, but we all think about it at least once. So, as you do and you go about with your business, try to imagine if the music you’re listening to would fit nicely in that moment. This exercise may also inspire you to create playlists for other contexts, such as dinner with friends or working out.
When looking for music to make love to, think of music that helps you:
Relax
Connect to your body
Connect with your partner (probably, Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” is not what we’re looking for.)
Love making is a language in itself, so devote some time to decoding it
A couple may love each other deeply for years, but no two encounters will ever be the same. Sometimes it may be more joyful, at other times, a more sensual energy may fill the space, or they might just hug each other and move extremely slowly. All of those contexts can lead to deep pleasure and connection. Neither is better than the other, but if ambient music is important for you, paying attention to those differences can give you hints into the type of music you want to play.
For example, what about Nina Simone’s “I Put a Spell on You” for a night with high heels and black lingerie?
Or Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” for a relaxed and playful night. Strawberries during foreplay?
Would Lady Gaga’s “Sexxx Dreams” be a nice fit for a role-play night?
Sometimes, couples release a heavier energy while making love. Perhaps they have been through a lot of tension (either between them or in their individual lives), or they feel like trying a dynamic with some consensual submission. Perhaps play Portishead’s Glory Box?
And, as always, you can explore these vibes during self-love, before coming with your partner to one of our Executive Suites.
