Evening Concert in Biscayne Bay

One of our favorite recommendations for a couple looking for a nice evening out together are the Moonlight Concerts held at the Barnacle State Park every second Sunday of the month, September through May. If you are unfamiliar with the area, the Barnacle State Park was built in 1891 and offers a glimpse of Old Florida during The Era of the Bay. Situated on the shore of Biscayne Bay, this was once the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove’s most charming and influential pioneers.

Throughout the year, The Barnacle Society sponsors numerous events in an effort to raise funds to support this lovely Historic State Park. The Moonlight Concerts are amongst the most popular events, ideal for a Romantic Date for Mother’s Day. Friends and family gather next to the bay, equipped with blankets and picnic baskets to enjoy the wonderful music. This year, singers and songwriters Shawn Fisher and Jordyn Jackson will be performing on Mother’s Day, May 14, at 6:30 PM.

Their musical group, known as Flagship Romance, is described as having a sound akin to “Harmonic Alternative Folk.” Anchored by Fisher’s unique guitar playing, Flagship Romance’s compositions are centered around and feature the duo’s unclassifiable vocal blend. Tickets are only $10, or $8 for members of The Barnacle Society. Children are also welcome! For those ages 6-9, tickets are $3 and children ages 5 and under have free admission.
