Historically, Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that recognizes the famous Battle of Puebla of 1862 in which the Mexican army proved victorious over the French. However, here in the United States, Americans have adopted the holiday as a way to celebrate all the wonderful foods, drinks, and customs that the Mexican culture has to offer. • Cinco de Wynwood: If you are at all familiar with the Wynwood area, you know that it is filled with tons of beautiful art, delicious food spots, and fantastic music. On Cinco de Mayo, the art district is transformed into a Mexican fiesta! Wynwood holds an annual block party in which mariachi bands, food trucks, and tequila shots can be found at every corner. Beginning at noon on Saturday and going on until 3 AM Sunday, Wynwood Marketplace is the place to be this weekend.

• Ocean Blues and Brews 2018: If you were hoping to throw some craft beers in the mix during your Mexican celebration, Ocean Blues and Brews is the perfect option. This craft beer festival features tons of brews for beer drinkers of every preference. There is a $40-$60 fee involved with the event at 149 SE 21st Ave. in Deerfield Beach, but that includes a festive souvenir pint glass and a guarantee of unlimited fun. • The Thirst is Real: May the Fourth Be With You: For the Star Wars enthusiasts out there, you are well aware that Cinco de Mayo comes right after one of the most important days in the Star Wars fandom: May 4th (AKA “May the Fourth Be With You). If your ideal night consists of combining these two fantastic holidays, Wakefield Brewing has the party for you! Located at J. Wakefield Brewing at 120 NW 24th St, this free event hosts screenings of the Star Wars films and tons of great activities.
